Modern Manhood: Therapy for Men
Traditional expectations of masculinity have shifted dramatically over the past several decades, yet there is often little guidance regarding what should replace them. Men are told to be vulnerable but confident, strong but gentle, ambitious but emotionally available. For many, the path forward feels unclear.
Conversations about masculinity have become increasingly polarized. Some men have internalized the message that masculinity itself is problematic, while others have reacted by embracing rigid or reactionary versions of manhood. After being told that their struggles matter less because of perceived privilege, many men feel hesitant — or even ashamed — to talk openly about their own experiences.
I believe there is a healthier path.
rethinking masculinity
We need a model of prosocial masculinity for the modern world.
Healthy masculinity is not about domination, emotional suppression, or control. Nor is it about rejecting traditionally masculine qualities such as strength, courage, leadership, competitiveness, or ambition.
Instead, it means integrating those qualities with self-awareness, emotional intelligence, responsibility, and meaningful connection.
Supporting men's mental health is not at odds with supporting women. The well-being of men and women is deeply interconnected. When men struggle with loneliness, emotional disconnection, identity, or purpose, the effects ripple through relationships, families, workplaces, and communities. When men thrive, so do the people who love and depend on them.
men's therapy: areas we may explore
My work with men focuses on helping clients:
Develop confidence rooted in authenticity rather than performance
Navigate dating and relationships with greater clarity and intention
Expand emotional vocabulary and emotional awareness
Reduce reactivity and improve emotional regulation
Build meaningful friendships and community
Clarify values, purpose, and direction
Strengthen communication and conflict resolution skills
Integrate strength with vulnerability
why therapy for men?
Many men were never taught how to understand emotions beyond anger, stress, or frustration. Others learned that vulnerability was weakness or that their worth depended entirely on achievement, productivity, or providing for others.
Therapy for men creates space to examine these messages without judgment. Together, we explore which beliefs continue to serve you, which no longer do, and what kind of life—and man—you want to become.
men's counseling in Colorado and Pennsylvania
I work with men navigating questions about identity, masculinity, dating, relationships, marriage, fatherhood, career, purpose, anxiety, and personal growth.
Whether you feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply interested in becoming a more grounded version of yourself, therapy can help you better understand who you are and who you want to become.
I offer in-person men's therapy in Denver at Nurture Wellcare Marketplace in the Highlands neighborhood, as well as virtual therapy for men throughout Colorado and Pennsylvania.
My goal is not to tell you what kind of man you should be. My role is to help you explore that question for yourself—with honesty, courage, and curiosity.
Because modern manhood is not about becoming someone else. It's about becoming more fully yourself.
